-Stat priority-
Intellect -> Spirit -> Haste/Mastery
Crit should always be reforged away, we get our crit from charkra serenity.
All items should have spirit on them.
Usually gem for socketbonus if it's intellect since we benefit much.
Brilliant inferno ruby for 40 int - Red sockets
Purified Demonseye for 20int, 20 spirit - Blue sockets
Yellow sockets either Reckless (int/haste) or Artful (int/mastery) ember topaz.
Haste increase the amount of heals you can put out while mastery increases the healing on each heal you cast with the mastery talet Echo of Light which puts a hot on each target you heal.
The haste cap you should reach is 12.5% in raids for the extra tick of healing on Renew.
Singletarget healing usually need more casting, which benefits from haste, since you will often be casting heal, and you need the bigger heals to be faster. Generally, if you cast alot of the cheap heal (as for exampel holy paladins does) haste is an excellent stat.
- Chakra-
Chakra is different states you want to be in when healing. Chakra: Serenity (yellow) is your singletarget state while Chakra - Sanctuary (blue) is your AOE healing state.
It shows up as the blueish or yellowish circles on the ground aswell as a blue or yellow buff in your buff-list.
You first cast chakra and you will find yourself "glowing", now you need to make your choice. Either cast a direct spell (heal, flash heal, greater heal etc) to enter Serenity, or cast an AOE heal (prayer of mending/healing) to enter Serenity. You can change chakra anytime you like by casting chakra again, followed by either direct heal or aoe-heal.
(you can also enter Chakra: Chastise for fights where you might be needed for some dpsing, for exampel last phase chimaeron. Enter chakra and cast smite or mindspike)
-Your heals-
Heal
Your basic heal, your go-to spell when you have nothing else to do and raid damage is low or slow. Will never OOM you.
Renew
Your HOT-spell, always keep it on tank (in chakra-serenity it will refresh the duration when the target recieves direct healing spells) It has an initial heal when glyphed. Should be used but not spammed cause of its rather high cost.
Flash heal
Your fast and expensive heal, a lifesaver. If damage is higher than you'd expect, flash heal is a heal to save people from dying. It will drain your mana.
Flashheal has two beneficial uses tho, as holy priest.
1) They can proc, giving you Surge of Light, which shows up as 2 yellow markings on each side of your character. This will give you 1 instant flashheal, no cast time, no manacost! Always use it.
2) Spec in to Serendipity, a talent that will proc when you cast flash heal, it shows up as a lightblue cloud over your character in your UI. This stacks 2 times and will lower the cost and casttime of your Greater heal. This is a brilliant way to fast top of the tank in a critical situation, 1-2 flashheal + 1 Greater Heal.
Greater Heal
Your big heal. If the tank is taking predictable large amounts of damage, Greater Heal will keep him up and top him before next damage wave is coming. It costs alot of mana though! Your Chakra - Serenity + Holy word: Serenity will make this heal increadibly powerful.
Prayer of Mending
An instant cast heal with 5 charges that will bounce from the person taking damage to the person with lowest health. In an AOE situation it makes the familiar sound of a priests healing, sparkling around the room.
This should be cast on CD when there are damages to the raid, it also gives a pretty nice heal, as an instant heal to the tank.
Prayer of Healing
An aoe heal with casttime, it will heal the people in that person which recieves the spells group, so it should be casted on different groups (in 10man and 25man) to benefit the most from it.
Circle of healing
A fast and somewhat expensive aoe heal, should be casted on stacked people. I find it a great heal and use it on CD when raid damage is going on.
Divine Hymn
Powerful aoe spell on a long cooldown, which can be shortened thru talents.
Desperate Prayer
Your own "lay on hands", instantly heals you for 30% of your maximum health on a 2 minute cooldown, no cost. Use it!
Guardian Spirit
Put it on a target, it increases healing recieved by 60% and will sacrifice itself instead of the target dying, giving the target 50% of its maximum health.
Lightwell
A very powerful healing-tool too rarely used. Put it up before the fight starts to regain lost mana from casting it (expensive). It will last for 3 minutes. Dont be afraid to make a 'say' macro to encourage people to use it, if nothing else YOU should be using it!
Holy Word: Sanctuary
You've all seen it, the big golden sparkling mark on the ground. It doesnt heal a huge amount but it adds to the aoe-healing. Will last quite a bit tho (mine 24 seconds)
Holy Word: Serenity
Amazing heal on basically no cooldown and no manacost (cheaper than heal) that when casted will heal the target for a big amount of healing (15-20k) aswell increase the crit chance for your heals on that target with 25% for ~7-9 seconds (scales with haste i think) The buff is called Holy Word: Serenity
Binding Heal
I haven't used it and I cant really see any good use for this expensive yet rather low-healing spell.
-Mana regen-
Mana should be regenerated when you're at 60-70% mana (some will even say 80% mana), not when you're low like 20%.
Shadow Fiend
Your main source of manaregen is your Shadow Fiend, when speccing Veiled Shadows in the Shadow-tree this will be on a 4 minute cooldown and can often be used 2 times per fight.
Just be aware that the target you send your shadow fiend to plans to be alive for a little while. There's a macro you can use to help your shadow fiend.
/cast ShadowFiend
/cast Shadow Crawl
/cast petattack
Hymn of Hope
A channeling manaregen spell on a 6 minutes cooldown. This will also restore your raidmembers mana so coordinate with your fellow healers when to use it.
Potions
I use Mythical Mana Potion or Potion of Concentration. The Mythical Mana Potion will give you 10 000 mana back over a short period of time, the Concentration potion will give you 20 000 mana but will put you into "coma" for 10 seconds in which you wont be able to do anything. Try to time it with healing-downtime. Most fights have those!
-Healing singletarget-
First enter Chakra: Serenity. This will increase crit chance on direct heals with 10%
Use Heal for as long as possible, this will spare your mana. Try keep Prayer of Mending up and use Holy Word on every cooldown. Holy Word is an amazing way to boost the healing of a target.
The talent inspiration will also help you alot. Crits will give your target inspiration that reduces damage taken by 10% for 15 seconds and since Chakra: Serenity gives you a nice crit-boost this will be a useful talent.
Always use flash heal when Surge of Light procs.
If someone goes low and are about to die, dont hesitate to flash heal them, and dont forget to use the nice procs you get from Serendipity, a cheaper faster Greater Heal!
Always keep Renew on the tank.
Keep Lightwell up when damage is high! Motivate people to use it, its a great powerful hot!
-Healing AOE-
Enter Chakra: Sanctuary. This will increase your aoe-heals with 15%.
Keep track of CDs on Prayer of Mending, Circle of Healing and Holy Word via something like Power Auras or NeedToKnow. I use these on every cooldown when raid damage is going on. I also use Prayer of Healing on different groups. Its a good thing to know what kind of people that are in each group, so I would suggest an healingaddon or raidframes (I use Vuhdo, but there are others like Healbot or Grid) that can show what class and role the people have.
For exampel, a group with alot of melee's in it will take more damage for exampel when the stomp goes out on morchok or when the ball hits the melee on zonozz. You should always be aware of what kind of people are in your raid.
Keep Lightwell up when damage is high! Motivate people to use it, its a great powerful hot!
